Jargon Buster
Local Strategic Partnership
(LSP) = New partnerships between the local authorities, business
and the community & voluntary who will develop ways to involve
local people in shaping the future of their neighbourhood. Hull
LSP has a Board of 15 members, 8 sub-boards, working groups and
7 Area Partnerships.
Cityvision = Another name
for the LSP. Nothing to do with the old Cityvision just adopted
the name to cut costs of developing a new brand.
Neigbourhood Renewal =
How local people, local authorities and business work together to
improve neighbourhoods particular those most disadvantaged and to
narrow the gap between the city and other parts of the country.
Renaissance = Turning
around neighbourhoods or cities and the lives of people who live
in them.
Area Partnerships = The
LSP in the 7 different areas of Hull to enable local people to be
involved in making decisions about the things that affect their
lives.
Sub-Boards = The LSP in
Hull has set up 8 sub-boards on heath, safety, environment, transport,
learning, image and aspirations, housing and economy; another level
of the LSP.
Community Involvement
= involvement in community activities in a variety of different
ways. Community involvement often starts with agendas and programmes
that originate outside the community.
Community Participation
= enabling people to become active partners in the regeneration
of communities by contributing and sharing in the decisions that
affect their lives. Participation should enable people to have a
degree of power and control in the processes with which they are
involved.
Community Groups & Organisations
= organised group of people located within neigbourhoods or interest.
They are controlled by their users and are usually small and informal
with no paid staff. They are often referred to collectively as the
community sector.
Communities of interest
= people who come together based on common interest such as disability
or ethnic minorities who don’t necessarily live in the same
neighbourhood as opposed to communities of geography who live in
the same area.
Faith groups = groups
based on religion such as church groups
